Website Content Management (27th Nov 2009)

Work has started on a new domino website template which will allow content editing by website owners, the first phase will allow secure login and editing of page content

Dept of Health - MEDS (Nov 2009)

Deployment of the updated notes mail template is now underway, 400 staff are now using the new template and it will be rolled out across the entire organisation over the next two months. We are now in the commissioning stage for the central components of MEDS which has involved an extensive rework to improve performance and usability. The project has involved a seamless update to hundreds of databases and millions of documents without any significant legacy data issues disrupting day to day use. The redesign will extend the life of the suite and encourage more extensive use across the organisation.

System Log for Notes (March 2009)

The new System Log V2.1 is now complete, It has some useful new views and now contains a configurable auto-purge agent that keeps the database size manageable no matter how many thousands of documents you send to the log. This has been integrated with the Dept of Health MEDS system.

www.broxholme.net - Redesign (Feb 2009)

The websites for New York career counsellor Judith Gerberg and Andreas Benkwitz are up and running on the Domino Developer network, my first steps were to install Google Analytics on both sites to monitor site activity, I currently reviewing the keywords to improve their search engine ranking and both sites will benefit from some active management.

www.broxholme.net - Redesign (Jan 2009)

I have reworked the design of my family history site and its much improved, still a few tweaks needed but getting close. There is also much new content on the Meteor Flight website which has a similar design but custom stylesheet and navigation. This site is now HTML 1.1 compliant, an interesting exercise.

Meteor Flight & Broxholme family tree - Live (December 2008)

I'm back up in London with the Dept of Health to help them deliver the project, in the meantime I have found the time to complete the first phase of the new Meteor Flight website and to convert my family history website (www.broxholme.net) to Domino. They both need more work as not all of the content is currently live and their are a few design issues to address, especially with www.broxholme.net.

IBM/ Royal Bank of Scotland (Sept - Oct 2008)

Concluded a small project with RBS on behalf of IBM with some long days, successfully extracted the information they needed from the server catalogues and Domino Directory. It gave them 1.5 million records to analyse on the applications in use across their organisation. I left them with a custom application to refresh the data as required. Its all part of a project to integrate ABN AMRO staff with RBS which had many logistical challenges.

Time Management and reporting application (Sept 2008)

A new project is underway for a local idea management company following on from a successful update to their customer management application. It will give them a much more efficient way of monitoring how much time each member of their IT department spends on customer, project, infrastructure and Internal IT activity. It will replace spreadsheet and email based reporting and will be integrated into a customised Lotus Notes mail template.

www.broxholme.net (Aug 2008)

Started a personal project to migrate my family history site from HTML/ PHP/ MYSQL to Lotus Domino. The first phase is easy although the navigation and style sheet definition will take some design and analysis work. The later phases of the project will reintroduce active searching and a full web interface for updates although this has to be prioritised with revenue generating work.

Google Analytics (Aug 2008)

Google Analytics reports are now coming in on a weekly basis, its good to know how many visitors we get to the site and which pages they read. The most useful piece of knowledge is that the switch from Internet Explorer to Firefox seems to be accelerating with nearly 1/3rd of visitors to this site using Firefox, This validates my decision to optimise the site for both browsers.

Redevelopment in Lotus Domino (July 2008)

The first phase of the redevelopment of this site is now complete. It is currently optimised for Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 and is now essentially identical in both browsers. It was an interesting challenge to come up with a design and suitable css to achieve this. Firefox/ Mozilla is an increasingly common choice of browser developers of Lotus Domino sites need to take this into account as it may be used by up to 25% of your visitors. The site design should behave also behave in Internet Explorer 8 on its release as this is reported to be more standards compliant than earlier versions.

Document Management and Mail Template upgrade (May 2008)

The Dept of Health project has been completed successfully. This involved significant updates to their heavily customised Lotus Notes mail template that supported a complex mail archiving and document management process.

Applications for Small Business (May 2008)

I am currently working on the development of a range of applications for small businesses. These will be developed for both Notes client and browser access. The first application, customer invoicing is complete and work is underway the an employee expenses applications. These will be followed by a customer and sales management interface. The three applications are independent but can be linked to form an integrated suite of applications.

Supply Chain Packaging prototype (Jan 2008)

Working in partnership with an IBM Business Partner we successfully completed the first phase of development of an integrated supply chain packaging application for a major global Petroleum supplier. This tracks and manages the supply and configuration of all the components involved in packaging a large range of consumer and industrial products. It has been designed as a global application to assist in standardising how brands are marketed and packaged across all sales regions.
